From Klang, take the road toward Kapar. You will pass a lot of irritating traffic lights. Be careful as Kapar and the surrounding area are experiencing a lot of development so there are a lot of heavy heavy vehicles on the road. Although the road is much better now. There is a dual lane for each direction, making it easier for travel and not as congested as before.
Jeram
When you reach Jeram town, pay attention to the right side of the road and you can see some interesting and colorful work of art, one, before the main market and another, after the market, just on the right hand side of the bridge.
Pantai Remis
Nothing much to see except the sea, the beach is muddy and full of rocks, not suitable for swimming or walking on the beach. But you can watch fishermen gathering cockles, if that's your thing.
There are some small stalls near the beach selling seafood, squid, fish and of course, roasted cockles.
Kuala Selangor
Upon reaching the town of Kuala Selangor, take a left at the traffic light. The right turn will bring you over the bridge towards the fishermen village. Take the left and you will reach the small town of Kuala Selangor. You will find a forked road, take the middle road to get up Bukit Melawati.
This is an old fort with old cannons, it overlooks the Malacca Straits and was used to defend the area from invasion. There is also a flat stone used by the Japanese and the old Malay rulers to behead people. It's called Batu Hampar.
The other attraction here is the lotong, black faced monkey. They are quite well behaved but tend to get very friendly if you have food, i.e bread or long bean (kacang panjang). You can bring your own or you can buy from the hawkers there for Rm1 a handful. I bought mine from the ginger tea (RM1 a packet) selling guy, he was friendly and informative on the other point of interests here, mainly fishing spots. Anyway, hold the beans to the lotong at they will take it from you (not snatch like other monkeys do). Still, they are wild animals and there would always be one or two naughty ones.
Kg. Kuantan- Firefly watching
On the way back towards Klang/Kuala Lumpur, you can visit the firefly sanctuary.
After the town of Kuala Selangor, you will pass the Petronas petrol station and then at the traffic light, take a left towards Kg. Kuantan. Travel about 5-6 km, just follow the signboards.
The jetty is situated next to a mosque.
The jetty and ticket counter will only open from 7.30 PM.
You need to take the boat (sampan) to watch the firefly.
Sampan ride - RM10 per person.
1 sampan - 4 person= RM40.
They will charge you per sampan, so if there are three of you, you'd still pay RM40, unless you can find somebody else to share the boat.
Tip-Advisable to go when the night is really dark, if you go when the moon is shining, there will not be as many firefly.
